Darrell James Obituary

Beyond the sunset, O glad reunion, with our dear loved ones who’ve gone before; in that fair homeland we’ll know no parting, Beyond the sunset forevermore!

Mr. Darrell Saul "D-Man" James was born on June 23, 1959 to the union of Henry & Evelyn Cryer James in New Orleans, La. He was baptised at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. Darrell attended thomas Lafon School Early Education, Carter B. woodson, and Walter L. Cohen Senior High School. 

Darrell LOVED LIFE, and ENJOYED it to the fullest. Darrell loved people and was loved by them as well. He also loved BBQ'n on the grill, and hanging out with friends and family. If you knew him, you know let a good song come on and you would catch him dancing to the sounds of the music. 

Darrell also loved being a role model and taking time out with children, all who referred to him as "Mr. D-Man" or "Uncle D-Man". 

Darrell was the loving father of Darrell R. Hills; devoted son of Henry James and the late Evelyn C. James; cherished brother of Henry Michael and Leroy D. James, Sylvia J. (the late Bruce) Pierre, Sharon (Percell) Jones, Vanessa J. (the late Edward, III) Cazenare, and the late Evelyn Kim and Kenneth Ray James. Grandfather of Darrell R. Hills, Jr., Godson of Jacqueline Johnson; grandson of the late Saul & Ophelia F. Cryer, and Josephine James. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Relatives and friends of the family, are all invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Friday December 13th, 2024 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Dennis Funeral Home 1812 Louisiana Ave. NOLA, 70115. Interment will be private. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am in the chapel.
