Daniel Velasquez

Daniel Velasquez, 65, of Leipsic, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 20, 1959, in Bluffton, to Cresencio and Vicenta (Castillo) Velasquez. Daniel married Deb Drerup on Aug. 23, 1980, and she preceded him in death Nov. 13, 2010. He then married Anne Zoll on Sept. 20, 2014, and she survives in Leipsic. He inherited four adult children, who he considered his own and loved them dearly.

Daniel is survived by Amy (Kyle) Barth and Heather (Curtis) King, both of Findlay, Brian (Heather) Myers of Tiffin, and Amber (Joshua) Underwood of Findlay; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way: and siblings, Baldemar (Sara) Velasquez, Jose Velasquez, Belia Spradlin, Irma (Jim) Nichols, Rick (Amy) Velasquez, and Emily (John) Semenik.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cresencio Velasquez Jr. and Oscar Velasquez; and brother-in-law, Richard Spradlin.

Daniel retired as a millwright for Ball Metal in Findlay after over 30 years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, where he served on the RCIA team for over 20 years. He was also a member of Ottawa Eagles and lifetime member of Leipsic Fishing and Hunting Club. He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, golfing, and traveling with family. Daniel was an avid fan of Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. A scripture service will be at 7:50 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
