Daniel Solomon Obituary

Daniel Paul Solomon

No words could ever describe how great of a man Dan truly was. Daniel Paul "Old Man Dan" Solomon, 69, of Findlay, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green. He was born in Conneaut, Ohio, April 19, 1955, to the late Jesse Wesley and Lillian Marie (McLaughlin) Solomon. He married the love of his life, Cheryl (Felkner) Solomon, April 19, 1979, and she survives in Findlay.

In addition to his wife, Dan is survived by his children, Daniel Paul (Chelsey Marie Longworth) Solomon Jr. of Findlay, Jessie Eileene Solomon (Kevin W.) Searls of Findlay and Corinda Sue Solomon (Bradley J.) Wilkinson of Rudolph; 11 grandchildren, Brianna Marie Searls, Matthew James Searls, Unity Reighn Searls, Zachary Tyler Searls, Ellyahna Grace Searls, Noah Bennett Searls, Daniel Paul Solomon III, Kolten William Solomon, Maddison Nevaeh Kirvan, Jaxson Bradley Wilkinson and Cynthia Spencer Wilkinson; one great-grandchild, and one on the way; and a sister, Barbara Marie Costello in Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frederick Martin Solomon Sr.

Dan was a graduate of Findlay High School. He spent his career as a master mechanic, working for several companies, including Miller Customs, before his retirement. Dan fostered a strong commitment to his family and work. He was a Godly man and devoted much of his life to the worship and study of our Lord. Dan became an ordained minister and was extremely proud of this achievement. His goal was to marry Danny and baptize his children. He loved to study his bible and also learned to love poetry in his later years. Dan even published a poem that he had written himself.

Dan also had a strong love and appreciation for automobiles. He enjoyed working on them and driving classic cars, especially early muscle cars, which reminded him of his childhood.

Above all, Dan was a family man. He loved his family with a passion that few could imitate, and helping to create that family was his proudest accomplishment. He would never hesitate to help one of his family members, often going an extra mile to make sure everything was set right. Dan would always be there to counsel with wisdom and inspirational words of Christ. He also loved to educate others with his vast mechanical experience.

Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45840.
