Dan Harpst Obituary

Dan Harpst

Dan Harpst died at 8:24 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Bridge Hospice, Findlay.

Dan was born Jan. 21, 1946, in Findlay, to Joe and Norma (Norway) Harpst.

He is survived by his children, Shonda (Rice) and Fred Berry of Sycamore and Bart and Rachael Rice of Salem, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Shelby Berry and Wyatt and Imara Rice; great-grandson, Weston Risner; and brother, Gary and wife Rhonda of Findlay.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Donna (Wolfe), who died July 13, 2020.

From an early age on the farm, Dan took an interest in all things mechanical from go-karts to combines and in the teen years to cars. Cars became the theme of his career working as service manager for Latham's and later Gene Stevens for more than 40 years. He was a lifelong learner and pushed himself to stay current with technology whether in cars or in his online gaming hobbies. He and Donna loved going on day trips and finding out of the way locations to visit and unique family-owned restaurants. He could tell you the best places to get a steak or prime rib within 100 miles.

Dan graduated from Liberty-Benton High School in 1964 and soon after, enlisted in U.S. Navy and served proudly on the destroyer USS Furse, stationed out of Norfolk Virginia, which engaged in the Vietnam War.

A private celebration of life will be at a future date.

Memorials can be made to Bridge Hospice, Blanchard Valley Hospital, 1900 South Main Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45840, 419-423-4500.
