Clara Gertrude Shroy

Clara Gertrude Shroy, 102, daughter of Oliver and Mary (Jones) Leonard, died at 9:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2023.

She was born May 17, 1921, in Findlay. Clara married Robert "Bob" Shroy on Oct. 25, 1945, in Berkeley, California, and he preceded her in death after almost 69 years of marriage.

Clara is survived by four children, Robert (Gayle) of Mentor, Bill of Worthington, Ann (Bill) Jacobson of Jamestown, Ohio, and Jan (Bruce) of Colorado; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Amber, Brent, Stephanie, Jessica, Michelle, and Michael; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Jim, in infancy; brothers, Lawrence of Findlay and Leo of Houston, Texas; and sisters, Cecilia (Flanigan) of Urbana, Ohio, and Anna Leonard of Findlay.

Clara spent most of her life in Findlay where she was a long-time member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, antiques, sewing, gardening, and Ohio State football. Clara and Bob enjoyed weekend camping with friends and family and traveled internationally. She and Bob enjoyed winters in Bradenton, Florida.

Visitation will be 9:45-10:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Ave., Findlay. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 617 West Main Cross St., Findlay. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery.

The family would like to thank longtime neighbors on Brookview Ct. whose kind acts sustained Clara, Maliyah Marshall for her special caregiving, the staff at Worthington Christian Village for their compassionate support in the last two years, and Bella Care Hospice for their care in Clara's last months.
