Clair Richard Harmon

Clair Richard Harmon, 88, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, in Findlay, where he lived the vast majority of his rich and experience-filled life.

He leaves behind his wife, Saundra; sisters, Loretta and Naomi; sons, Rick, Chris, and Devon; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Clair joins his father, Carl; mother, Louise; brothers, Larry, Raymond, Ronald, and George; sister, Judy; and son, Bob, in Heaven.

Clair worked for the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company for over 40 years with most of that time being spent managing the operations in the lab. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling and visiting zoos. During his travels, he managed to visit all 50 states and visited dozens of countries on six different continents. He toured over 400 zoological parks and aquariums, taking many pictures and cataloging the animals he saw, with his favorites being the San Diego and East Berlin zoos.

Clair also enjoyed many years of participation in different sporting activities. When he attended Van Buren High School, he played football, basketball, and baseball. As an older adult, he participated in various softball, bowling, and golf leagues over the years. Clair also greatly enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes play. A life-long dedicated fan, he managed to attend several bowl games to cheer them on in person. He also closely followed Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.

Clair was a member of Toledo Zoo for over 50 years. As such, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Toledo Zoological Society Foundation, Attn: Reptile House Legacy Program, P.O Box 140130, Toledo, Ohio, 43614.

Clair's celebration of life service will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2024, at Crates Life Appreciation Center, 219 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, Ohio, 45840.

COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, has been entrusted with Clair's care.
