Cheryl Boes Obituary

Cheryl J. Boes

Cheryl Jane Boes, 66, of Alvada, passed away at 3:07 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

Cheryl was born Sept. 27, 1957, in Fostoria, to Gerald G. and Irene (Brickner) Boes.

She is survived by her mother, Irene Boes of Alvada; brothers, Kenneth (Shirley) Boes of Fostoria and Ronald (Shirley) Boes of New Riegel; sisters, Charlene Wickham of Carey, Carol (Aidan) Jenot of Alvada, Diane (Christopher) Allison of Alvada, and Linda Bouillon of Tiffin; friend and caregiver, Tonya Ridenour; four nieces; nine nephews; and many great- and great-great nieces and nephews. She was a very loving Godmother to many.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Boes; brother, Thomas Boes; and brother-in-law, Douglas Bouillon.

Cheryl was a 1976 graduate of New Riegel High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University. She worked at the former K-Mart in Fostoria, was a district manager at Meldisco in Michigan and Wisconsin, and retired as a quality engineer from Whirlpool, Findlay. Cheryl was devoted Catholic and she taught love and compassion for others. She was a member of All Saints Parish in New Riegel, New Riegel American Legion Auxiliary, and New Riegel Right to Life. She would spend many hours volunteering for causes that she believed in and supported. Cheryl loved to travel and because of her outgoing personality, she never knew a stranger. Cheryl enjoyed wining, dining, and trying new things. Cheryl was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and continuously fought with a positive attitude. She always made sure that no one ever worried about her and always thought of others first. Cheryl was always dependable, the family center, and she always ensured that everyone was involved and felt special. Cheryl was the first to lend a helping hand, the first to learn all about the project, and the first to let you know if it was done correctly and to her standards. Cheryl enjoyed trips with her family and friends to France, Portugal, Spain, Iceland, Hawaii, and many places in the USA. Cheryl, her twin Carol, and family would attend the annual Twins Days Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio, for the past 29 years. They were four-time medal winners of the "least look alike twins." Cheryl loved her family and would spend countless hours to make family events special with creek duck races, cardboard box races, and making sure every single person had a Christmas gift. Cheryl would even dress up to add more fun to these events.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830.

Cheryl's funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, the funeral home with Deacon Greg Siebenaller presiding. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Alvada, and a luncheon will then take place at New Riegel American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to New Riegel Right to Life, New Riegel American Legion Auxiliary, or charity of the donor's choice.
