Brian E. Montgomery

Brian E. Montgomery, 66, of Bluffton, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, April 19, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born January 31, 1959, in Bluffton, to the late Robert A. and Dorothy (Gatchell) Montgomery. On May 1, 1987, he married Rita Decker, with whom he shared a life of love and companionship.

Brian spent his life rooted in Orange Township. He had a love for county fairs, good conversation, and looking for an Ace at the black jack table. With wisdom passed down from several generations, Brian had a deep passion for agriculture, a love he proudly shared with his sons and grandchildren. The continuation of the family farming legacy was very important to him.

He and Rita later founded B&R Trucking. He enjoyed his time on the road, where he made countless friendships with people from all walks of life. Whether the topic was machinery, finance, or medicine, Brian always seemed to know "just the person". He had a way of finding the best in others and learning something from everyone he met.

He is survived by his sons, Jonathan R. (Elizabeth) Montgomery and Brian A. Montgomery, both of Rawson; and stepchildren, Matthew (Jessica) Clevenger of Bucyrus, Stacy (Meko) Arroyo of Florida, and Jennifer (Dave) Simonson of Dayton. Brian was a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Marsha (the late Steve) Nessler of Findlay, Walter (Janny) Montgomery of Bluffton, and Mark Montgomery of Jenera; as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life will be at a later date. Brian's legacy lives on in the land he loved, the family he nurtured, and the stories he shared. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
