Betty Marvin Obituary

Betty Jo Marvin

Betty Jo Lenhart Marvin, 89, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Friday, March 3, 2023, at Bridge Hospice. She is in her eternal home with Jesus.

Betty Jo was born Nov. 20, 1933, to the late John and Etta Kempher Lenhart. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Ralph M. Marvin, on May 22, 1954.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Marietta (Mark) Mason of Maryville, Tennessee, Marcia (Bryan) Black of Marblehead, and Melinda (Jon) Fleegle of Findlay; son, Mark (Tonya) Marvin of Findlay; sisters, Shirley Collins of Richmond, Virginia, and Rosanne (Mel) White of Naples, Florida; brother, Ken Lenhart of Fostoria; seven grandchildren, Ashleigh (Gabe) Black Helbert, Matthew (Kim Weaver) Mason, Corey (Kerry) Black, Lindsay (David) Fleegle Spridgeon, Morgan (Jacob) Mason Petree, Landon (Sammie) Fleegle, and Lexis (Brett) Fleegle Bauer; and great-grandchildren she adored, Preston and Kennedy Helbert, Michael Henry Mason, Ezra Black, Raegan, Camden, and Lawson Spridgeon, Grayson, Jack, and Ben Petree, Jax Flechtner and Jadon Fleegle, and soon to arrive Baby Bauer.

Betty was also preceded in death by her husband; son, Michael Ralph Marvin; and brother, Melvin Lenhart.

Betty was a kind woman of faith that loved her family, especially the little ones that she could rock. She also enjoyed quilting, watching birds, sharing her flowers, cooking, and baking. Her strawberry jam, cookies, cinnamon rolls, and doughnuts were family favorites! She could often be found making a meal for others, teaching her grandchildren about God, or caring for others. Betty worked as a nurse for 44 years at various hospitals following her husband in his Navy career, then at Fostoria City Hospital, Chrysler Corporation, and eventually retiring from Blanchard Valley Hospital.

Betty was an active member of East Mt Zion UM Church, UMW, Gideons, and was a 4-H advisor for many years.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Betty Jo's funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor BJ Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery.

Betty Marvin is as close as I have ever been to a Saint. She was so helpful and loving to Tim & Ruth in 1984, when Tim died from Cancer. She was always kind and cheerful. We all loved her.

I remember Betty playing music for church services at East Mt Zion, as well as attending Bible study with her. Such a beautiful soul.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Betty was such a wonderful person. I remember so many things that she did for the community over the years. When I was young I picked strawberries for them. Such a fun time then. Remember the good times. Susan (Yeager) Hoffman.
