Betty L. Griffith

Betty L. Griffith, 88, of Leipsic, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.

She was born Nov. 25, 1935, in Belmore, to Fred and Doris (Newell) Beam. She married William E. Griffith on Aug. 15, 1954, and he preceded her in death May 26, 2018.

Betty is survived by five children, Sharon (Richard) Swihart of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Fred (Sue) Griffith of Orange, Florida, Phil (Marlene) Griffith of Ottawa, Dan (Penny) of Drums, Pennsylvania, and Nadine (Shane) McMakin of Kingsport, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and two sisters-in-law, Joyce Beam of Wapakoneta and Nancy Beam of Avon Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandchild, Sophie Steffel; and two brothers, Virgil and Arthur Beam.

Betty retired from teaching at Leipsic Elementary School. She was very active at The Meadows of Leipsic. Betty was a member of Leipsic Methodist Church, where she was also very active. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, doing puzzles, and feeding the birds. Betty loved to travel and visit her family.

Betty's funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic, with Pastor Laurie Beaty officiating. Burial will be at a later date at West Belmore Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
