Betty Ellis Obituary

Betty Jean Ellis

Betty Jean Ellis, 92, of Findlay, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, at Brookdale Assisted Living under the care of Bridge Hospice.

She was born May 19, 1931, in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, to Thomas and Hazel (Weister) Stock. Betty married Charles (Carl) E. Johns on Oct. 29, 1960, and he preceded her in death Sept. 23, 1991. She later married Samuel S. Ellis on Dec., 13, 2008, and he survives in Findlay.

In addition to her loving husband, Betty is survived by her children, Chris (Amber) Johns, Tammy (Michael) Stone, and Christina (Mark) Rehl; grandchildren, Maylia Stone, Joshua Stone, Ally Gilson, Jessica Gilson, Cameron Bair, Carter Bair, Angie Brown, Kate Cox, Brad Rehl, and Travis Rehl; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother, Bill Stock; brother, John Stock; and first husband, Carl.

Betty was a 1950 graduate of Rossford High School. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper at a local bank and then became a devoted housewife after her children arrived. She was a coveted neighborhood babysitter, house and pet sitter, and house cleaner.

Throughout her 92 years, Betty had many hobbies. She enjoyed sailing as Carl's first mate, bowling, dancing, playing dominoes, cleaning, landscaping, was an animal whisperer, collector of antiques, and stuffed teddy bears.

Betty is remembered most for the love she had for her family, her sweetness and the smile that went with it, her questions to get to know you, her servant's heart - expecting and wanting nothing in return, her great love for animals, and back in the day, chasing her children around the yard with a wooden spoon.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024, until the time of Betty's funeral at 11 a.m. at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, Ohio, 45840, with Michael Stone officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Betty request's that donations in her memory be shared with Teddy's Rescue, 12409 CR 99, Findlay, Ohio, 45840.

When Betty married my Uncle Sam she made his life very happy which is a testimony of her beautiful spirit. I am thinking and praying for the family during this difficult time.

So many memories of all the kids Betty helped raise in Perrysburg - Jimmy, Emily, Holly and Ethan. She met all their personalities with such joy and devotion. Holly introduced her to bike trails along the river and together they explored small retail shops around town. Betty´s was a life well lived and she will always be remembered fondly.
