Barbara Sharrer Obituary

Barbara Jean Sharrer

Barbara Jean Sharrer, 62, of Benton Ridge, passed away at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo Sunday, March 16, 2025, from an aggressive and rapidly growing cancer. She was born in Findlay, March 17, 1962, the daughter of Leon Joseph Windau and Mary-Jo Hindman. She was previously married to Thomas Rinebolt and Fred Sharrer, whom she later divorced but remained good friends with over the years.

Survivors include her son, Jesse Rinebolt of Findlay; and daughters, Rebecca Sharrer of Florida, and Dr. Christy (Dr. Eshaan Kashyap) Sharrer of Phoenix, Arizona; a grandchild, Andy Mathews-Rinebolt; her brothers, George Windau of Toledo, and Billy Watterson of Tucson, Arizona.

Preceding her in death are her parents.

Barbara was the director of human resources at Hancock County YMCA. She was a dedicated public servant, proudly serving on Benton Ridge city council for over a decade. Here she was in charge of writing grants for the village, developed the library walk, and was involved with the implementation of the new park.

She had many hobbies, such as enjoying nature, gardening, hiking, riding her bike, and bird watching. She was creative, enjoying DIY projects (sometimes getting in over her head with friends), painting with watercolors, and photography. She was a skilled chef, gifted in cooking and baking. Ultimately, Barb was an avid reader, active lifelong learner, and lover of books. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is preciously remembered as a mother, a grandmother, and friend. Her soul is beloved by all who knew her for her infectious spirit, excitement for life, and love of laughter.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.

Memorial may be directed to the wishes of the family.

Barb was an incredible person with an amazing soul. I got the honor of knowing her for a little while working at the Y. I will miss her smile and her stories she told me about her family. The Y family will most definitely not be the same without her.
