Barbara Cummings-Sopher Obituary

Barbara E. Cummings-Sopher

Barbara Ellen "Barb" Cummings-Sopher died Monday, April 24, 2023, surrounded and comforted by her three kids following five-and-a-half long years of complications from a massive stroke in Nov., 2017.

Barb joined her mother, Ellen, in Heaven.

Barb was born April 23, 1961, to Dallas and Ellen Cummings. She was the devoted and loving sister to Pete (Cathy) Cummings and Terri (Hoyte) Wilhelm. She was a 1979 graduate of Van Buren High School and former employee of Ashley Furniture.

Barb loved her kids and grandbabies She lived and breathed FOR them and has made many memories with each of them. Her oldest, Aubrey (Ryan) Daughenbaugh, lovingly referred to as "Midge," her son, Brett (Hailey) Sopher, "Bubba," and Brittany "Mouse" (Christopher) Lafountain were her pride and joy. Rylee, Ayslin, Brayden, Casey, Mckenna, Harper, and Mason were her grandbabies and she loved spoiling them with unhealthy snacks, toys, or clothes they didn't need.

To know Barb was to love Barb. She had endless amounts of love to give to everyone and was lovingly named "Mama Barb" to many of her (adopted) children. She was always baking or cooking something, dropping it off to her kids or taking it into work to feed her co-workers. Cookies, cakes, or afghans were her "go-to" when someone she loved needed comforted or even just because. Barb loved to spend time with her kids and grandkids. She never missed a ballgame or opportunity to be the loudest parent in the stands. She was always there with an ear to listen, hug to give, and giant mug full of Diet Pepsi. She enjoyed visiting her parents in Tennessee and did so at least once a year. Her days off from loving her people, you could find her lathered in suntan oil and soaking up the sun with one of her cheesy romance novels, crocheting a blanket, or doing some needlework. She loved the heat and sunshine.

Barb had a heart of gold and although she will be eternally missed by every single person who has ever known her, we know she is in a much better place now, greeted by her mom.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, and 10-11 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 West Sandusky Street, Findlay. Barb's funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Don Leader officiating. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery.

Contributions in memory of Barbara may be made to CDKL5 Research, P.O. Box 926, Wadsworth, Ohio, 44282.

Aubrey, Brett, and Brittany...Your mom was one of a kind. So many memories of her from high school and sports. When you were little she would bring you into Things N Pills and she would proudly tell me all the things you were doing. May you be comforted by all the memories you have made with her. May God give you peace that only He can give during this time. Rejoice that she is now healed! Prayers for you all as you celebrate her life this week and always.

My sincere condolences for the entire family. It was so much fun growing up around her and being a majorette with her.
