Anna Hissong Obituary

Anna Renee Hissong

Anna Renee Hissong went to her heavenly home Thursday, March 20, 2025, after a long, brave battle with cancer at the age of 41. She was surrounded by her loving family. She will remain forever loved by her husband, Lucas; sons, Andrew, Nathan and Joshua; as well as her parents, Dave and Sharon Vaas; twin sister, Sara Vaas; brother, Lucas (Dayna) Vaas; in-laws, Jeff and Sandy Hissong; sister-in-law, Amber Sanderson; nieces and nephews, Olivia Vaas, Gavin, Ty and Mia Sanderson; and many close family and friends.

The family and friends who knew and loved Anna will remember her as one whose life mattered. Anna's dream was to fall in love, marry, become a mom, and raise a family. That dream came true when she met Lucas and had Andrew, Nathan, and Joshua. Her greatest lasting legacy is in her sons' lives, whom she has taught to be wonderful, loving young men. Family togetherness was a shared passion of Anna and Lucas for their family of five. Her favorite place to be was with her family, whether on vacation, the boys' sports activities, a bike ride, a hike, mealtimes or games on the living room floor. Anna's family and friends will hold Anna in their hearts and remember the "fruit" of her life as one who was an encourager, was kind and genuine, lived to serve rather than be served, listened well, and loved fiercely. Anna and Lucas's Christian faith led them to raise their sons to be strong in the Lord. This verse in Isaiah 40:31 had become important to Anna... "Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint."

Calling hours to celebrate Anna's life will be from 12-2 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2025, at Heritage Christian Church, 7413 Maxtown Road, Westerville, OH 43082, with the service following at 2 p.m. Interment at Northlawn Memory Gardens.

I am a stranger who came to this website today to leave a note on my own mother's obituary page who died in 2008. I came across Anna's obituary by accident and saw that she sadly leaves behind 3 sons. I was 14 when I lost my mom, I was so broken and lost in this world for so long. I just wanted to give my sympathy to the family and to these young men who have lost their mother, I know how they feel. I know what you must be feeling right now. I just want to tell them that it does get better, and that although the wound will never fully heal, time does alleviate that searing pain you feel right now. I almost didn't survive the initial trauma of losing my mom, i almost gave up several times. But I hung on and now have a great life and am so thankful i found the strength to carry on at the hardest moments. I pray these young men find that strength too. Your dad needs you. God bless.
