Andrew Bell Obituary

Andrew Craig Bell

Andrew Craig Bell, 32, passed from this world into his eternal home Tuesday, June 4, at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Trauma Center, Toledo. Andrew was hit while riding his bicycle on the Slippery Elm Trail at the intersection at Rt. 281 and was life-flighted, where he later passed from his injuries.

Andrew was born Jan. 9, 1992, to Kevin and Lynne (Dewey) Bell. A 2010 graduate of Van Buren High School, he attended Eastern Kentucky University for two years then later transferred to University of Findlay, where he graduated with a degree in Business Management/Marketing. Andrew was the Asst. Manager in Building Materials at the Findlay Menards store, where he loved interacting with all the employees and guests.

Andrew loved ALL things sports. As a young boy, he played soccer and midget football and then continued with golf, basketball, and baseball in his junior high and high school years. He loved to ride dirt bikes and play video games with his friends and his niece, Ava, and nephew, Cohen, on the gaming computer which he built himself and was very proud of. Andrew loved his little league baseball years, where his 12-year-old Van Buren Knights team won the county championship in 2004. He played travel baseball during his youth with a wonderful group of boys from different surrounding schools, named the Titans. Andrew's greatest love as a youth was junior golf, where he spent countless hours playing FAGA and Toledo district tournaments. Countless hours were spent honing his game at the driving range and putting green at Red Hawk Run Golf Club. His senior year at VBHS, he was named golf's Blanchard Valley Conference "Player of the Year" and was named basketball's MVP by his fellow teammates. He was a true adrenaline junkie who loved to go snowboarding with his buddies in northern Michigan, Breckenridge, Co., and Utah City. His love for speed in this sport was his passion. He recently had taken an interest in photography and enjoyed shooting still images.

Andrew was a vibrant young man who had a big heart, loved his family and friends, and had a zest for life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his parents; sister, Stephanie (Nate) DeCooman; nieces, Ava and Logan; nephew, Cohen DeCooman; maternal grandmother, Shirley Dewey; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Andrew was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ralph Dewey; paternal grandfather, Jack Bell; and paternal grandmother, Lois (Thompson) Bell Shank.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Andrew's celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the funeral home with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Pastor Kimberly Reese will officiate.

Memorial contributions can be made to Van Buren Athletic Boosters.

It´s difficult to find the right words for a loss so tragic. Bell was a great friend and we shared a lot of wonderful times together back in the day, often with Spencer and Shroll. Countless summer nights playing cornhole, sitting around a backyard bonfire figuring out our lives, shooting hoops in the driveway, watching any and every sporting event that was on TV, the list goes on. One of the things I´ll miss most about AB is his positive energy - he was such an enthusiastic yet supportive guy. Always knew how to have a good time but also be there for you in tough ones. He was one of those friends that you could pick up right where you left off, no matter how much time had passed. AB - rest in peace, buddy. Mom jeans forever.

Our deepest sympathies for the entire Bell family and all those who called him a friend.
