William Alexander "Bill" Smalley

William Alexander "Bill" Smalley, 77, of Findlay, passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born Aug. 8, 1946, in McComb, to William Andrew and Dortha (Russell) Smalley.

He married Teri Sterling in 1968 and they divorced. He then married Janealla Killebrew in 1975 and they divorced. He then married the love of his life, Sharon Sweet, on March 18, 2010, and she survives.

He is also survived by his sons, Hunter Mustang Vogelsong of North Baltimore, Brent A. (Kathy) Smalley of Northwood, Eric W. Smalley of Weatherford, Texas, Daryn R. (Chase Horn) Smalley of Lakewood, and Kevin Kristopher Sweet of North Baltimore; daughters, Skyler Lee-Ann Vogelsong of Findlay, Thalyn R. Crabb of Irvine, California, Lisa Ann (Troy) Trumbull of North Baltimore, Krista Kay Gunter of Findlay, Shari Lynn Sweet of Findlay, and Stephanie Lynn (Ryan Berger) Eisentrager of Findlay; brother, Roger Smalley of Findlay; grandchildren, Shayne (Brenna) Smalley, Tyler (Heather McDonald) Smalley, Zachary (Sara) Smalley, Corynn Crabb, Carson Crabb, Camdyn Crabb, Caslyn Crabb, Tyler (Kalie) Trumbull, Lacey (Shawn Maier) Trumbull, Trace Trumbull, Bryce Gunter, Logan Gunter, Kaleb Dyer, Alyana Eisentrager, and Alexander Eisentrager; and great-grandchildren, Carly, Everly, Gracie, Brianna, Emma, Layne, Paityn Euler, Karlee Trumbull, Tucker Trumbull, Case and Crew Maier, and Emberlynn Gunter.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jon Smalley; two sisters, Carol Casati and Ellen Speer; granddaughter, Courtney Smalley; and great-granddaughter, KynLee Ann Trumbull.

Bill was an U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War from 1964-1967. He was a former Carey police officer, worked as a security officer at Owens Community College, and member of North Baltimore American Legion Post #539. He enjoyed shooting many different types of fire arms and was a member of Fraternal Order of Police.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 West Sandusky Street, Findlay. Bill's funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at the funeral home with Bishop Terry McBeath and Pastor Brent Smalley officiating. Full military graveside rites will be performed by Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
