William Perry Rettig

William Perry "Bill" Rettig, 88, of Findlay, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024, surrounded by family.

He was born Feb. 23, 1936, at home in Liberty Township, Hancock County, to John "Harmon" and Erma (Miller) Rettig. He married Iola Shaver on Feb. 12, 1956, at First Church of Christ in Findlay.

Bill was involved in FFA and 4-H while in school. He was a 4-H advisor with the Liberty Benton Livestock club, an assistant chief on Liberty Township Fire Department, Jr. High youth leader, and deacon and trustee for his church. He was a farmer, businessman, member of CODA, and facilitator for PHP. Bill loved to camp, hunt, and fish, along with doing puzzles and playing Mexican Train dominoes on Friday nights with close friends, Larry and Helen Karch, Dick and Ilean Peterson, and Jim and Sharon Williams. Bill and his brother, Calvin, started Bucket- List Barn Sales selling antiques.

Bill will be missed by his loving wife of 68 years, Iola; children, Denise (Joe) Cheney, Raymond (Michele) Rettig, and Karen (Mark) Dauterman; daughters-in-law, Molly (Steve) Rettig and Billi (Beau) Rettig; siblings, Calvin (Charlene) Rettig and Ruby Bateson; 12 grandchildren, Nicole (Jason) Oman, Kari (Jarod) Kempf, Jonelle Howard, Stephanie (Jason) Mull, Emily (Vincent) Kirsch, Jamey Rettig (Austin Hickman), Kristen Dauterman, Jonathon (Katie) Dauterman, Sonja Dauterman, Brooke (Luke) Rickenbacher, Bridget (Jared) Rizor, and Brock Rettig; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon and Erma; siblings, Ellen (Delmer) Coffman and Jimmie (Bonnie) Rettig; sister-in-law, Bernice Rettig; brother-in-law, Raymond Bateson; and two sons, Steve and Beau.

Visitation for family and friends will be 1-5 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, and 1 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2024, until the time of Bill's celebration of life at 2 p.m., all at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Pastor Rick Broughton and Pastor Mark Dauterman will officiate.
