William Dawson Obituary

William Joseph Dawson

William Joseph "Bill" Dawson, 82, of Findlay, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at Birchaven Village, Findlay.

He was born Aug. 18, 1941, in Parma, to Austin and Mary (Brindza) Dawson. He married Rebecca Jo (Biller) Dawson on May 19, 1996, and she survives.

Bill was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School, attended John Carrol University, and graduated from Findlay College. He proudly served his country as a member of U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

He worked for Ball Metal Corporation in Findlay, where he retired in 2001. He was a longtime member of Findlay Rifle Club, having served as a past president, Elks BPOE #75, and Findlay Moose. Bill loved to travel and served as a tour guide on international trips. He especially enjoyed Amsterdam, Ireland, and Germany. He enjoyed photography and camping, traveling often to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, as well as having a campsite at Clinton Lake in Tiffin. He loved all animals and was a devoted Notre Dame and The Ohio State University football fan. He also was a fan of Cleveland Guardians and Cleveland Browns.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Michael J. Dawson; grandchildren, Tiffani L. Huntoon, Patrick Jordan Dawson, and Amber S. Dawson; three great-grandchildren, Grace Butte, Brody Feay, and Ryker Dawson; and sisters-in-law, Janet Vaughn and Marsha Erbland.

Bill's family would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who took care of him at Birchaven Village and Bridge Hospice.

Visitation will be 1-3 and 5-6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay. A rosary service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Bill's funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024.
