Took our grandchildren to see the Globe Trotters a few weeks ago. First thing they asked about was Bill. Two years later they still fondly recall his generosity and overall kindness.
Gail & I hope you're enjoying Gods paradise. Susan we hope you're well. We miss both of you.

I met Bill through his work with the Globetrotters. I had finished a career with Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey, and had started my own marketing company, and Bill retained my services to help fill in the cracks with cities his team could not get to. I remember the first year I helped Bill was the year he created a third route to tour. Most of the venues were high school gyms or in some situations, a college gym. The first question I asked Bill was: " Where the hell is that?" i'd been around, but never heard of or thought of playing some of the places he uncovered. He was brilliant at finding these places, working with the venue and coming up with campaign that really worked for the Globetrotters. That first year, they wanted us to go to these cities and visit and make all the deals in person. It was really refreshing to get a sense of the culture of these cities and get to know the local crowd. I think Bill really enjoyed that part of what he did. I always enjoyed discussing the markets and marketing campaigns with Bill. He was a true promoter. He had this trademark chuckle/laugh that was always there and made even the tough situations a little easier. I've been involved in many tours over the years. The Globetrotters is by far the most grueling and difficult tour I've ever seen, primarily because you have the same amount of work for a one day show that you would have for a 5 day show. When you multiply it by 7 shows a week and several tours, the workload is incredible. Bill figured it out, had great systems for booking and promoting, loved the Globetrotters and was extremley passionat about what he did. I learned a tremendous amount from working with Bill over the years. Thanks Bill for all your efforts!
