Wayne Peck Obituary
Wayne Peck
Wayne Arthur Peck CLU, ChFC(r), CASL, 73, of Midland, formerly of Findlay, went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 25, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born April 8, 1952, in Edon, Wayne was the son of Everett C. and Ruth Ruland Peck. He was raised on the Peck family farm, working alongside his parents. Those early years instilled in him a deep work ethic and a lifelong passion for agriculture.
Wayne graduated from Edon High School in 1970 and earned a bachelor of science in agricultural engineering from The Ohio State University in 1974. He began his career with Ohio Farmers Cooperative (now Legacy Farmers Cooperative) in Fostoria, managing grain elevators across Hancock and surrounding counties for over 15 years. Seeking more time with his family, Wayne transitioned into life insurance sales with Universal Guaranty. He later became a full-service financial planner, owning Successful Solutions before joining Savage and Associates. In this role, Wayne combined two of his favorite pastimes, serving others and connecting with people. He had a gift for making everyone feel like an old friend.
While at The Ohio State University, Wayne met the love of his life, Linda (Meiring). They married in December 1978 and raised two sons, Matthew and Christopher. In 2017, Wayne and Linda relocated to Midland, North Carolina, to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Wayne was deeply committed to his community. He served as advisor to Riverbend 4-H Club, treasurer of St. Wendelin High School Mohawk Club during his sons' school years, and as a board member of Hancock Leadership. He was also affectionately known as "Mr. Dr. Peck," always by Linda's side in support of the University of Findlay, whether grilling for 300+ pre-vet students or cheering on the Oilers, Wayne showed up with a smile and a story to share.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Ruth; his aunt, Sally Ruland; and his father-in-law, Tom Meiring.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda; sons, Matthew (Sarah Frances) of Midland, North Caraolina, and Christopher (Jessica) of El Dorado, Arizona; and five cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Charlotte, Michael, Ellie, and James.
A private celebration of life will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the University of Findlay Meiring-Peck Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by Wayne and Linda in honor of their fathers, to support students pursuing animal science majors.
