W. Eugene Hall Jr.
W. Eugene "Gene" Hall, Jr. passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Bridge Hospice Care Center.
He was born Jan. 22, 1935, in
Anderson, Indiana, to Wilbur E. Hall Sr. and Nancy Eunice (Pigg) Hall. He married Nancy Lee Tritch, his high school sweetheart, on Sept. 14, 1958, and she survives in Findlay. His daughter, Amy L. Beall, resides in Findlay.
Gene was a 1952 graduate of Findlay Senior High School and played clarinet in the band and violin in the orchestra. It was the love of music and the clarinet that led to his first meeting with his first love, Nancy. The two performed together many times in recitals and musical programs - Gene on clarinet and Nancy singing or playing piano.
Gene graduated from The Ohio State University in 1958 with a degree in Pharmacy. He practiced at Central Drug, Findlay, for five years, then Lima Memorial Hospital as a staff pharmacist, followed by Mansfield General Hospital as Assistant Director of Pharmacy. In 1970, he accepted the position as Director of Pharmacy Service at Blanchard Hospital, Findlay, a position he held for 21 years.
Gene was a Master Woodworker, making many lovely pieces of furniture for his home and also refinishing many vintage pieces. His garage workshop was the envy of many! He also loved small models, making many boats and airplanes.
He loved traveling to the East Coast as he and Nancy spent 14 years vacationing in Maine, his favorite place. They even thought of moving there at one time, but decided he liked staying in Findlay close to friends and church.
He was a Stephen Minster Leader at First Presbyterian Church and elder several times and served on many committees. He was a 50-year member of the church.
Gene was a cat lover and enjoyed the company of three Scottish Folds and many rescues, the latest being Mozart.
His greatest joy was the musical collaboration he had with his wife, Nancy. He was a lover of classical music, a very talented musician who brought comfort and delight to many worship services.
He and Nancy celebrated 65 years of marriage. He was a true gem, a wonderful husband and father who will be greatly missed. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Nancy; daughter, Amy L. Beall of Findlay; nieces, Sara Ward of Vanlue and Rachel Hipp of Norwalk; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and stepmother, Edith Mae (Miller) Hall.
Gene's celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church.
Memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church or Humane Society of Hancock County.
