Vanna Lee Abbott

Vanna Lee Abbott, 69, of Fort Jennings, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after a 10-year battle with Multiple Myeloma.

She was born Dec. 15, 1953, in Upper Sandusky, to Hershal (Judy) Hannam and Roma (Jerry) Hosterman.

Vanna is survived by her brothers, Victor (Doreen) Hannam of Kalispell, Montana, Bruce (Beth) Hannam of Tiffin, and Bret (Tricia) Hannam of Upper Sandusky; sisters, Valerie Kuntzman of Fort Jennings and Jacquie (Eric) Lenihan of Columbus; aunt, Hazel Stillberger of Sycamore; stepfather, Jerry (Joan) Hosterman of Mount Blanchard; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and beloved animals, Libby, Bella, Bo, Sassy, and Tippy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hershal and Roma; sister, Brenda Brady; uncle, Don Hannam; and grandparents, Roy and Roma Swihart and Hershal and Julia Hannam.

Vanna attended Sycamore school through fourth grade, Ansonia fifth grade through her junior year of high school, and then graduated from Spencerville in 1971. She obtained her Education Degree in Home Economics from Ohio University in 1976.

Vanna was a dedicated teacher who truly loved teaching and her students. She taught at Pandora Gilboa from 1976-1993 and then Fort Jennings until she retired in 2013. She enjoyed being an advisor to FCCLA, senior classes, National Honor Society, and being a Sports Supervisor. Since retirement, she has traveled to Alaska, Maine, Glacier National Park, and made many trips to visit family in Arkansas, South Carolina, Virginia, Montana, and Iowa. She had a passion for gardening, growing flowers, baking, antiques, needlework, and watching sports. Her greatest joys were her family and her dog and cats.

Vanna's memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, 2023, at The Old Gym, 655 N Water St., Fort Jennings. Following the memorial service, the family invites everyone to drop in for food and fellowship, memories, and hugs, at The Fort, 125 N Water St., Fort Jennings, from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
