Timothy Conlen Obituary

Timothy John Conlen

Timothy John Conlen, 72, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Friday, June 13, 2025. He was born July 2, 1952, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Russell and Gerry Conlen, who predeceased him.

He graduated from Flushing High School, received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Ferris State University, and a master's of business administration from Cleveland State University. Tim retired from American Greetings Company in 2001. He lived for many years in Avon, Ohio, and relocated to Findlay in 2014 due to his ongoing battle with multiple sclerosis.

In his younger years, Tim enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing. The summer after ninth grade, he and three classmates went on a bicycling adventure to northern Michigan, just wearing cutoff jeans and T-shirts and pedaling heavy Schwinn bikes.

Tim enjoyed spending time at his grandmother's farm in Michigan and later with family at Lake Isabella.

Tim learned he had multiple sclerosis in 1982, and it was a slow progression of disability that finally took his life. He lived for five years at Birchaven Assisted Living, eventually transferring to long-term care.

Tim enjoyed the Cleveland Guardians and Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed his afternoon "rope operas" (westerns) and Perry Mason.

Tim is survived by his brother, Paul Conlen of Traverse City, Michigan; sister, Marti Earhart (John) of Findlay; niece, Megan Earhart of Findlay; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Cathie Conlen, in 2023.

Cremation has taken place. He will be interred at Flushing Cemetery, Michigan, at a later date. Please consider a donation to National Multiple Sclerosis Society (www.nationalmssociety.org).

We would like to thank the staff at Birchaven Skilled Nursing for their care and compassion.

Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2025, at Birchaven Village Chapel. Memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. with Deacon David Gerardi officiating.

Tim and my husband, Dan, worked together at American Greetings. Tim is one of those people, I'll never forget. So kind and always smiled when we got together, no matter the circumstances. Was a blessing to have lived near him in Avon as we saw him quite a bit before he headed to Findlay. I remember when Dan and I went with Tim and his sister, Marty, to check out places that would meet Tim's needs in Findlay. Although it was hard for him to leave Avon, it was time and so grateful he found a good place closer to family.

He loved sharing stories about his growing up in Michigan and his family. Dan, couldn't pass up the chance to give him a hard time about being from Michigan as Dan is all about OH--. But those two had so much fun together, always laughing, picking on each other and joking around. Over the years, it was nice to have been able to put faces to the names of those Tim loved and spoke of so often. He would ask us about our family and Dan was happy to fill
him in on what was new with the kids and grandkids.

I remember walking into Tim's room in Findlay. He was watching Downton Abbey. Once Tim heard it was new to us his face lit up as he filled us in on the story line. I was hooked.

Tim will be missed.
Love always from the Rambo family.
