Thomas H. Kaufman
Tom H. "Tucker" Kaufman, 80, of Glandorf, died surrounded by family at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born Aug. 28, 1942, in Cloverdale, to Vincent and Lucy (Frank) Kaufman. He graduated from Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic High School, Ottawa, in 1961. He married Carol Fortman on April 28, 1962, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, and she survives in Glandorf.
Tom worked as a lineman for Ohio Power/AEP for 36 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, and its Men's Society. He was also a member of Ottawa Eagles, Glandorf Rod & Gun Club, Port Clinton Elks, Camp Run-A-Muck (Marblehead), AEP Veterans Employee Association, and Horseshoe Leagues â€" The Glandorf Nine and Ottawa Eagles.
Tom loved his family and was strong in his Catholic faith. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, throwing horseshoes, fishing, watching westerns and sports - especially Cleveland Indians and Browns, and The Ohio State Buckeyes - and spending summers at Lake Erie and winters in Florida.
In addition to his wife Carol, Tom is survived by his son, Mark (Janice) Kaufman of Glandorf; daughter, Lisa (Ron) Doepker of Findlay; nine grandkids, Seminarian Eric Kaufman, Brooke (Tyler) Leatherman, Carrie (Hank) Krendl, Josh (Audrey) Doepker, and Molly, Emily, Claire, Zach, and Morgan Doepker; seven great-grandkids, Briley, Easton, Larkin, and Reece Leatherman, and Carson, Collin, and baby Krendl; brother, John Kaufman; four sisters, Irene Morman, Rosemary (Tom) Wolke, Phyllis (Bob) Frey, and Joyce Yant; and two sisters-in-law, Irene Kaufman and Lenora Kaufman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant daughters, Lori and Jodi Kaufman; four brothers, Rich (Kathleen), Virgil, Ralph (Carol), and Harold Kaufman; and two brothers-in-law, Paul Morman and Ron Yant.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, with Father Kent Kaufman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2023, and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. A scripture service will be at 1:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, towards Masses or the maintenance fund.
