Terry Leibold Obituary

Terry Leibold

Terry Leibold, 71, of Hazel Green, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023.

Terry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandra Olive Leibold; daughters, Laura and Sara Leibold; brothers, Gary (Cindy) and Barry (Teresa) Leibold; brothers-in-law, Cameron (Lori) Olive and Jimmy (Denise) Olive; sisters-in-law, Kathy Leibold, Susan (Randy) Perry, and Jamie (Larry) Underwood; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mildred Leibold; in-laws, Carmel and June Olive; brother, Larry Leibold; and uncle, Richard Leibold.

Terry was well-known in his hometown of Van Buren as a star athlete in basketball, football, and track. His life was changed when he met his future wife in an accounting class at The University of North Alabama. Terry's career as a photographer for NASA had him capturing rockets being tested, meeting astronauts, and traveling the world. Terry was an adventurer at heart and spent time as a scuba diving instructor, earned his pilot's license, and rode motorcycles cross-country. Since retirement, you could find Terry doing what he loved most, drinking coffee with friends, going on road trips with his wife, working alongside Laura on her home, and meeting Sara at trailheads on her long-distance hikes.

Terry's family will celebrate his life Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, where friends can stop by his home anytime from 12-3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, you can make donations in his memory to Shriners Hospital, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Food Bank of North Alabama.

He took a picture once of my car in a certain spot at a certain time. That picture got me out of a legal situation. Thank you Terry!
Terry was so easy to work with. He was an honorable man, did good work, was reliable and respectful to all. He was very pleasant to be around. Always had a smile on his face. Good folk.

Sending our sincere condolences to the entire Leibold family. My husband played sports with Terry at VanBuren, and my mother was Mildred, Terry´s mother, best friend for decades. The Leibold boys were a big part of our growing up years......Terry was so out-going and a loyal friend.
Please feel comfort in all your friends and family during this difficult time.
