Sue Ridge Obituary

Sue Ann Ridge

Sue Ann Ridge, 74, passed away surrounded by her loving family in Crossville, Tennessee, Monday, July 21, 2025.

Surviving Sue, are her husband of 55 years, Greg, of Crossville, Tennessee; her son Matt and his wife Kim Southerland, of High Point, North Carolina; her son Daniel and his wife Jess Morphew, of Brooklyn, New York; her youngest son Ben and his wife Heather Riffel, of Boulder, Colorado; and grandchildren, Noah, Josh, Leah, William, and Frances.

Born to Jim and Barb Weeks in Troy, Ohio, in 1950, Sue graduated from Miami East High School and entered Bowling Green State University to study art. It was there that she met the love of her life, Greg. The two started a family in Findlay, relocating to Toledo after Greg's graduation.

The cold winters, particularly the Great Blizzard of 1978, convinced the young couple to seek warmer climates, and they moved to Aberdeen, North Carolina, in 1979. Here and in Southern Pines, Sue surrounded her family with kindness, love, patience, and cheer. With the children off to college, Sue and Greg moved to High Point, North Carolina, in 1997. After Greg's retirement to Crossville, Tennessee, where they are members of First Presbyterian Church.

Gentle and soft-spoken, Sue loved nature, reading, and travel. She and Greg brought all three of these together as they explored the wonders of America in their RV. Her compassion and commitment to Christ served as guiding lights to those around her, and her faith was a constant source of strength and solace throughout her two-year battle with cancer.

Funeral service for Sue will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, where family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service. Burial will follow at Benton Ridge Cemetery.
