Steven Shoemaker Obituary
Steven Ivan "Steve" Shoemaker, 73, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, at Arlington Manor.
He was born July 21, 1951, in Bowling Green, to Marvin and Mary Ellen (Brown) Shoemaker.
Steve worked as a carpenter and was a member of Findlay Moose Lodge #698 and Community Bible Church in Arlington. He loved NASCAR, but not as much as he loved his family.
Left behind to cherish Steve's memory are his sons, Ivan (Bobbie Jo) Shoemaker of Mt. Cory, Steven (Tracy) Shoemaker of Findlay, Scott (Michelle) Shoemaker, and Thomas (Janine) Shoemaker of Palm Bay, Florida; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marygene (Phil) Luoma of Ocala, Florida, and Dan Shoemaker of Houcktown; lifetime companion, Deb Neville; and the mother of his children, Pat Swisher.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Shoemaker; grandson, Tyler Van Wormer; great-grandson, Michael Groves; and sisters-in-law, Judy Shoemaker and Kathy Shoemaker.
Visitation for family and friends will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, and 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, until the time of Steve's funeral at 11 a.m., all at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, 419-422-1500). Toriano Henry will officiate.

I remember Steve when I lived at Arlington Manor in Arlington. He was a nice fellow resident although we had some minor differences. He complained once when I was disciplining my dog a little too harshly, but looking back, I guess I was having a hard day and was I was a little harsh on my dog, Dinky, and Steve was probably right in mentioning it to me. I always remembered he liked to go out in another resident's car and smoke a cigarette. He and the other resident were always cautious about not polluting the residence with smoke. Bon Voyage, Steve, you were a great person and hope I am as good to be able to see you again someday. I believe the last I inquired about you, was that you had left Arlington Manor and had gone to live with a good friend. I am sure he/she misses you greatly too.
