Starley Sue Cannon
Starley Sue Cannon, cherished wife, mother, Gram, sister, friend, and longtime Findlay Realtor, received a mansion in Heaven on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024.
Possession was immediate and after seeing the face of her Lord and Savior, she is now enjoying the amenities of the streets of gold, pearly gates, and wonderful neighbors. We know with all certainly that Jesus told her "Well done, thy good and faithful servant. Here are your keys to the kingdom, the deed was paid in full at Calvary."
Starley is survived by her beloved husband and sweetheart, Paul D. Cannon. They were married Sept. 23, 1960, in West Virginia, and were just 22 days shy of celebrating 64 beautiful years of marriage. They moved to Findlay on May 1, 1964. They had three cherubs, as Starley affectionately referred to her daughters, and she was incredibly proud of each of them and their dear spouses.
Family was everything to Starley and she leaves behind to cherish her memory Robin Rene and husband Ronald Crawford, April Jo Cannon, and, Misty Anne and husband Edward Montaine.
In addition to praying for her husband, daughters, and sons-in-love each and every morning, she also spoke the names of her precious grandchildren in prayer asking for guidance, wisdom, protection, and whatever they specifically had facing their day, that they would feel the presence of God with them, and that He would be honored and glorified. She was always the first to accept an invitation to anything they invited her to and her "WOO" could be heard by all in attendance and not just once! Without a doubt, no one clapped louder than she did. She was affectionately known as Gram and loved so dearly by Annie (Stephanie Minton) Lambert, Autumn (Blake) Nofziger, Jillian (Colin) Maurer, Lauren (Casey Mock) Montaine, Jordan (Mitch) Cavanaugh, Sophia (Drew Svoboda) Beery, Taylor Montaine, Blake (Ryley Wood) Montaine, and one precious grandson in Heaven, Matthew Paul Crawford, whom we know she has already reunited with.
Gram welcomed with such joy, love, and excitement the addition of four great-grandchildren. She made a lasting impact on the hearts of Kennedy and Beckett Nofziger, Finn Maurer, and Cameron Mock. She loved to tell them while she was already pretty good, they made her great!
Starley was born Dec. 29, 1942, on the family farm in White Cottage, Ohio to her beloved mother and father, Roy L. and Reta E. (Kelly) Rucker, who preceded her in death. She loved her parents dearly and the four precious brothers they gave her. She proudly claimed her birth order of being the middle child of five and the only daughter. She often spoke of her humble beginnings on the farm and loved to tell stories of all the fun they had growing up. She would say they did not have much money, but they sure had plenty of love and hospitality to go around. She adored her brothers and will be greatly missed by Richard (Hazel) Rucker, Noel (Linda) Rucker, Jeff (Melinda) Rucker, and sister-in-love, Rita Rucker, widow of beloved brother, Stephen Gary Rucker. Starley also dearly loved all of her many nieces and nephews from the Rucker and Cannon families.
For many years, Starley was a homemaker taking pride in pouring into her husband, children, neighbors, friends, and church community. She had a knack for decorating and soon, she and Paul would discover just how many nail holes one wall could take and still remain standing. She took pride in keeping a well-kept home with delicious home cooked meals and was always ready to welcome guests of all kinds from family dropping by, the kids' friends, missionaries from the church, or anyone she could love on. It didn't take long to realize Starley had a heart for others. With her beautiful smile and sparkling eyes, she would get your attention. Her quick wit would keep you laughing and entertained and her genuine love for you would make you a friend for life.
She began a successful 46-year career as a Realtor and eventual Broker by knocking on doors asking homeowners if they would be interested in listing their house with her. She quickly began accumulating accolades and awards by her sales volume, but her real rewards were the lifelong friends she made. She did far more than help people buy and sell houses. She found a ministry and her customers loved her for it and became friends for life. She was often called upon to lead the prayer at the Findlay Board of Realtor meetings and Christmas parties and everyone knew she would pray sincerely from her heart. She did not look at other realtors as competition, but as friends to help boost each other wherever and however possible. She especially loved her group known as the "Forever Friends" which they certainly were, and are, as well as countless other cherished friends.
Faith was the very foundation for Starley's life and she worshiped and attended Findlay Grace Brethren Church for many years and became involved in every way possible, including playing the piano and organ for services. She especially shined with her presentation of dramatic readings and plays. If she would not have found success in real estate, surely Broadway would have come calling. In later years, she would attend Calvary Baptist Church and most recently, she called Trinity Baptist Church home. She loved all of her church families dearly.
Starley would love for you to know the Lord as your personal Savior and see you again in Heaven someday. She would probably know just the right mansion for you, but trust those details will already be worked out.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, until the time of Starley's funeral at 1 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 7839 CR 236, Findlay. Pastor Ben Jennings will officiate and interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay.
Memorials may be given to either Trinity Baptist Church or Bridge Hospice.
