Sherry Cooper Obituary

Sherry Lyn Cooper

Sherry Lyn Cooper, 57, of McComb, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 19, 2025, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. She was born in Findlay, to John "Bill" Voland and Carolyn "Jean" (Oldham) Voland. Sherry was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother John "Mike" Voland, and stepfather, Vernon Tietje.

She is survived by her son, Nicholas Cooper of McComb; sister, Laurie Voland of Columbus; niece, Mikaela Voland of Carey; niece, Kadynce Voland of McComb; and nephews, Camden and Chase Voland, also of McComb.

Sherry had a love of travel, music, movies, and baseball.

Growing up, the family would often take trips to places like The Great Smoky Mountains, Nashville, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Lake Erie. The family also had a fun spirit that was fostered at Grandma and Grandpa Voland's family farm with countless adventures and the go-kart that Dad built. This love of adventure would take her to amusement parks like Cedar Point and Kings Island, where Sherry and Laurie would hit the rollercoasters, with The Beast at Kings Island being the favorite.

Her love of music was gifted to her by her grandfather, who introduced her to artists like The Beatles and Pink Floyd. However, her favorite introduction was to Jimmy Buffett. She and her sister got to see Jimmy's last show at Blossom Music Center in 2021.

If you knew Sherry, you knew she loved movies. She had so many favorites that it's hard to pick just one or two to talk about. Her favorite movie buddy was her son Nick. They really liked watching the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and The Avengers films together.

Sherry's love of baseball came naturally. Growing up, the neighborhood kids would come to the family's "Big Yard" which held epic games until it was too dark to see the ball. She continued that love throughout her life and really enjoyed attending Toledo Mud Hens games as well as taking trips to Comerica Park to watch her beloved Detroit Tigers play.

Sherry was a 1986 graduate of McComb High School and a graduate of Northwestern Business College-Technical Center (now University of Northwestern Ohio) in Lima.

A time to gather for family and friends will be at1 p.m. unitl time of serivce at 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2025, at Hanneman Funeral Home, 370 Park Drive South, McComb, Ohio 45858. Interment will take place at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia.
