Sharon Brock Obituary

Sharon Ann Brock

Loving wife and mother, Sharon Brock, passed on December 23rd, 2023 at the age of 72 in the presence of her adoring family.

Born Sharon Ann Chabot to father Amos and mother Geraldine on October 20th, 1951, she joined her sister Delores as the youngest member of the family. She lived her childhood years in East Detroit, Michigan where she attended East Detroit High School until her graduation in 1969. Her time there allowed her to expand her affinity for music and it also provided her with the opportunity to meet the love of her life, Waine Brock. Sharon and Waine married on March 30th, 1973 and would spend the next 50 years happily devoted to one another. Music remained an important part of Sharon's life and led her to pursue an education devoted to it. She graduated in 1981 from Wayne State University in Detroit with a Bachelor of Music degree and a thoroughly developed talent for playing the flute. Throughout the 1980's Sharon and Waine welcomed their four children: Alanna, Mason, Susanna, and John. Those children, in turn, have produced eight grandchildren to date and they all love their Grammy deeply.

With her signature wit and charm, Sharon lit up every room she ever walked into. Whether someone was an old friend or they had met five minutes prior, her courteous nature and endless patience left everyone she encountered with the feeling that they had known her for years. She had a subtle and quiet way about her that gave the words she chose and the timing of her responses an undeniable weight and energy. A woman of many talents and interests, Sharon was particularly taken with cooking, knitting, and perhaps most importantly, reading. Much of her spare time was spent consuming anything and everything that found its way to publication. She was especially fond of works of fiction but kept her reading list as varied as it was copious. Knitting and cooking provided her with opportunities to turn something practical into a creative outlet. If you owned something she had knitted. you knew where she stood with you. The home she kept was constantly filled with the delightful aroma of her baking, providing a warm welcome to all who entered.

Sharon is survived by the love of her life, husband Waine Brock, her sister Delores Hogeboom, her four children and their spouses, Alanna (Jocko) Langlois, Mason (Tara) Brock, Susanna (Cory) Delaney, and John (Mar) Brock and her eight grandchildren, J.J., Maxwell, Henry, and Rosie Langlois, Henry, and John Brock, Gabriela Brock, and Thomas Delaney.

She joins her parents, Amos and Geraldine Chabot, and favorite brother-in-law, Robert Hogeboom, in Heaven.

December 29, 2023

Alanna and all your family, I was so sorry to learn about your mom's passing. That's such a tough loss. I had the pleasure of knowing her at the Shakespeare Club. And, I learned, we share the same birthday! Oct. 20 (though I'm older!) Know that I am thinking about you and saying prayers for God to wrap you all in His love and give you peace and comfort. Hug each other.

Sincerely, JoAnne Ingold
