Ruth Anne Musgrave
Ruth Anne Musgrave, 77, of rural Findlay, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was born March 31, 1949, in Fostoria, to Frederick and Dorotha (Stoner) Mengert. On June 18, 1971, she married Michael L. Musgrave, who survives.
Ruth is also survived by her children, Ryan (Jennifer) Musgrave of Tiffin and Kelly Andres of Fostoria; and her cherished grandchildren, Emma Musgrave and Karli Andres. She is further survived by her brothers-in-law, Robert (Susan) Musgrave of Burlington, Wisconsin, Mathew Musgrave of Arlington, Jill (John) Ryerson of Chardon, Jack Musgrave of Arlington and David (Marcia) Musgrave of Arlington; along with 12 nieces and nephews and 28 great-nieces and great-nephews. She also held a special place in her heart for her "adopted daughter," Stina Moraeus (Mathias) of Stockholm, Sweden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Dorotha Mengert and a brother, Dean Mengert.
Ruth dedicated her life to education. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1971 and later earned her master's degree in family and consumer sciences. Over a 30-year career, she taught at Cloverleaf Schools in Medina County, Liberty-Benton Schools, Lakota Local Schools, and Fostoria City Schools, where she retired. She was a devoted and respected teacher who believed in treating her students with dignity and in encouraging them to reach their full potential.
Beyond the classroom, Ruth was deeply involved in her community. After retiring, she continued her work in education as an extension educator with OSU Extension Service in Seneca County. She also served as an advisor to Seneca County Junior Fair Board and as a cheerleading advisor at Fostoria High School. Ruth volunteered with City Mission and was a former member of both Arcadia and Hancock County School Boards. She was an active member of Arcadia United Methodist Church.
Ruth had a passion for creativity and hospitality. She was an excellent seamstress and cook who loved bringing people together. She enjoyed quilting, attending retreats and shows, and teaching quilting classes. She was also a part-owner of SewFi's Fabric and Bernina Sales in Findlay and Fostoria.
Ruth will be remembered as a strong, talented, and compassionate woman who deeply cared for her family, students, and community.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff of Hospice for their kindness and support.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2026, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay and again from 10-11 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2026, prior to service. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2026, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with Pastors Erma Metzger and Dave Noel officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date.
