Ronald Writz Obituary

Ronald Joseph Writz

Ronald Jospeh Writz, 74, of Fostoria, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at his home.

Ronald Joseph Writz was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin, the first of seven children of Ben and Marge Writz. Ron graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in 1968, where he lettered in hockey and good times.

Ron married his high school sweetheart Judy Bloczynski in 1969 and moved to Kenosha, where he worked in construction on the Zion nuclear power plant. Ron and Judy produced two daughters, Cassandra and Jennifer, in quick succession. Following in his father's footsteps, Ron took up trucking in 1974 as an owner-operator, moving furniture for Allied and Graebel Van Lines. Over nearly forty years on eighteen wheels, Ron traveled to all 48 contiguous states, taking his girls on "working vacations" to Disneyland, the Colorado Rockies, Florida, and all points in between.

Ron married Chris Hendricks in 1986 and built a life together in Fostoria. They enjoyed their schnauzers, a multitude of stray cats, and life in the country, frequenting the Moose Lodge and American Legion.

Ron took pride in keeping his rig spotless, and he charmed his customers and everyone he met with his good looks, sense of humor, and work ethic. When back injuries forced him to step back from the physical demands of furniture moving, Ron continued driving for Quad Graphics, BOC Gas, and Mennell. While the solitude of cross-country driving suited him, Ron was the life of the party amongst family and friends.

After retiring from trucking in 2013, Ron struggled with health issues. Surviving a near-death experience in 2019, the six years that followed were an added bonus. He quit drinking cold turkey and, over the course of a year, lost over 100 pounds in order to qualify for a much-needed hip replacement. At the end of his life, Ron had a new spring in his step and was looking forward to what lay ahead.

Ron is survived by his wife, Chris Writz; his daughters, Cassie Writz and Jennifer Trueman; grandchildren, Jacob Trueman, Lucy Trueman, and Lars Alsin; siblings, Lee Writz (Bev), Mark Writz (Debra), Nancy Trierweiler (Steve), Gayle Fait (Mike) and Sue Writz; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ben and Marge Writz; brother, David Writz; and brothers-in-law, Steve Trierweiler and Ray Hendricks.

There will be no services at this time.

All arrangements have been entrusted to Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Ron´s passing. He truly brought a light into our office with every visit. Seeing his name on the schedule always lifted our spirits - he had a warmth, a kindness, and a sense of humor that made a lasting impression on all of us.

Ron worked so hard on his health journey, and we were constantly inspired by his determination and grace. He wasn´t just a patient to us - he became a friend. We feel honored to have known him and shared in even a small part of his life.

Please know that all of us are thinking of you during this difficult time. Our hearts go out to you and everyone who loved him.
