Roger Cramer
Roger Eugene Cramer passed away Monday morning, March 3, 2025, at Bridge Home Health and Hospice at Blanchard Valley Hospital. He was just 12 days shy of 76 years old, having been born in Findlay on March 15, 1949, to Richard "Dick" and Matilda "Tillie" Cramer (Rader). On June 13, 1975, Roger married Christine (Margraf) Cramer at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin. He is survived by Christine and their six children, Maria (Tim Kirkpatrick) Cramer-Kirkpatrick, Victoria Cramer and her significant other Dwayne Hogan, Nick Cramer and his significant other Stacia, Luke (Cristina) Cramer, Matt (Jenn) Cramer, Leah (Tylor) Lilley; as well as seven grandchildren, Aidan, Colin, Alana, Amaya, Makenna, Jackson and Lilah; sister, Janis (Angelo) Conti; and many nieces and nephews, including Doug Merrin, who was a tremendous help and support to the family in Roger's final days, for which Roger's wife and children are extremely grateful. Roger's family also would like to recognize and thank the ICU nurses at Blanchard Valley Hospital as well as those at Bridge Home Health and Hospice at BVH who provided exceptional and compassionate care.
Roger was preceded in death by his precious child, Angel, a baby lost before birth, whose memory continues to live on in the hearts of the family; Roger's parents; his sister, Evelyn (Chuck) Merrin; and his brothers, Donnie and Kevin Cramer.
Roger grew up on a farm just outside of Findlay and graduated from Liberty Benton High School before earning a bachelor of science in agriculture from The Ohio State University.
Roger graduated from the ROTC program at OSU and was honorably discharged from the United States Army Reserve on July 26, 1971 to accept a commission in the US Armed Forces. Due to troop downsizing, he was never able to serve his country in the active military, which had been his goal.
Roger had various jobs in the agricultural field before joining and then retiring from Hearthside Food Solutions in McComb after 31 years of service. While working full-time for many decades, Roger also joined his Dad in continuing to work the fields of the family farm on which he grew up. He was incredibly proud of being a farmer, and he felt a deep connection with the land that provided part of his livelihood.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, as well as 10-11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025. Roger's funeral, presided over by his nephew, the Reverend Steve (Andrea) Merrin, will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, followed by burial at Maple Grove Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
*A note on funeral attire: Roger was a lifelong Buckeye fan who rarely missed a televised game and was thrilled to attend a couple of games in person with some of his children. Because he so loved The Ohio State Buckeyes, he is being buried in his favorite OSU jersey. Guests at his funeral and visitation are welcome to wear their favorite OSU gear OR traditional funeral attire.
