Robert Bennett Obituary
Robert Lee "Bob" Bennett, 84, of Gahanna, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at Danbury Senior Living in Westerville.
He was born Sept. 15, 1939, in Findlay, to Frank and Zelma (Garman) Bennett. He married Rita (Schafer) Bennett on Dec. 22, 1962, and she survives.
Bob is also survived by his daughter, Becky Bennett of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Greg (Sara) Bennett and Matt (Beth) Bennett, both of Columbus; three great-grandchildren, Mila Bennett, Dylan Bennett, and Jack Bennett; brother, Dr. Ray (Julie) Bennett of Findlay; sister, Kay (Marv) Maaske of Phoenix, Arizona; half-brother, Joe Bennett of Findlay; and daughter-in-law, Zoe Bennett of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Randy Bennett.
Bob was a 1957 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School, 1965 graduate of Findlay College, 1969 graduate of St. Francis College, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, with a Master's Degree, and 1972 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a PhD in Education. From 1962-1986, he taught in the Gahanna Jefferson School District, as well as teaching graduate classes at Ashland University. Bob and Rita purchased the Gahanna Children's College in 1993 and retired from this in 2000. Bob enjoyed spending time at the family farm in Kenton and taking Gator rides with Rita. He will always be remembered as a jokester as well as a long-time educator.
Private graveside services will take place with Pastor Steven Ramsey officiating.
CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington, has been entrusted with Bob's care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory may be shared with Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.

Mr. Bennett taught at Hardin Northern 1962-63. He taught sixth grade. Many of us went to his wedding at St. John´s Lutheran Church at Dola.
He kept track of us as we became adults. I was able to tell him that I patterned my 35 years of teaching the way he taught. I recently had one of my former students express the same thing about my teaching. (I just learned of his passing.)

Mr. Bennett´s encouragement enabled me to attain my Master´s degree. He was a special person and mentor. His kindness will always be remembered. I extend my condolences to his family.
