Richard Spradlin

Richard Spradlin, 75, of Vanlue, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, surrounded by those he loved.

He was born Feb. 26, 1949, at home in Alvada, to Clifford and Marvolene (Stone) Spradlin. He married Belia Velasquez from Pandora and they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage.

Richard is also survived by his children, Sean (Melissa) Spradlin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Christopher (Jaime) Spradlin and Troy (Jayme) Spradlin, both of Findlay; grandchildren, Ethan, Chris, Cashel, Cerys, Caden, and Gavin; great-grandchild, Corbin; and brother, Rick Spradlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Roger, Rannie, and Ray Spradlin.

Richard was a 1967 graduate of Vanlue High School and proudly served his country in U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Richard worked for GTE/Verizon as a line man and retired after 35 years of service. Post retirement, Richard drove bus for the Vanlue School district and enjoyed seeing the children safely home for 14 years. Richard was a member of AMVETS Post 21 of Findlay and American Legion Post 344 of Carey.

One of Richard's greatest joys was drag racing his homebuilt 1967 Chevy II Nova. He was also a diehard Ohio State Buckeyes fan. But more than anything, Richard dearly loved his family.

A memorial gathering in Richard's honor will be 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey.

Family requests that those attending wear Ohio State Buckeyes or Renegade Racing attire.

Memorial contributions may be made in Richard's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
