Richard "Bear" Custard

Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, Richard was called home to join his late parents, Carl and Helen (Fletcher) Custard, and his older brother, Franklin Custard.

At a young age, Richard found a passion for working on all kinds and types of vehicles and motorcycles, and it grew and grew with family, friends, co-workers, or whoever may stop out at the garage. Oh! the garage, where an unlimited number of hours were spent hanging out with Bob, working on cars, visiting with friends, making plans for trips, and trying to keep the kids out of trouble. Later he began working on boat motors. Mid 30s, Richard, along with a longtime group of friends, started racing dirt bikes, including racing in Daytona, Florida, on the Daytona Race Track and happy to tell you about it.

Richard enjoyed going to swap meets, van-ins, flea markets, concerts, and a good junkyard where he always found "treasures." Richard retired after 36 years at Autolite/Honeywell in Fostoria. He met Linda Watkins there, and they shared a great love story of 42 years. They loved to travel, boat on Lake Erie, camp at the lake, or a great road trip. On weekends, you could find them spending time with family or one or all of their group of longtime lifetime friends. They were always going somewhere or doing something.

Richard is survived by his two favorites, Bobby and Penny, Doug and Lisa Watkins, Deb and Eric Bostic, six grandkids, 16 great-grandkids, and his four-legged friends Lucy, Angus, and U.S. Very special thanks to Marcus Hotelling and Cheryl Otto for all the extra help!!
