Ricardo Sanchez Obituary

Ricardo Sanchez

Ricardo "Rick" Sanchez, 64, of Findlay, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at University of Toledo Medical Center after losing his battle with cancer.

He was born Feb. 10, 1959, in Findlay, to the late Matias and Maria R (Martinez) Sanchez. Ricardo married Irma "Joann" McDonald and they divorced. He later married Cathy Hughes on Aug. 26, 2006, and she preceded him in death Aug. 12, 2021.

He is survived by a son, Ricardo S. Sanchez; grandson, Lorenzo S. Sanchez; sister, Adelita (Edward) Flores of Findlay; and four brothers, Arnie (Deborah Kenner) Sanchez of Upper Sandusky, Jesus (Robyn) Sanchez of Fostoria, Rafael Sanchez of Findlay, and Rene (Doreen) Sanchez of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, John A. Sanchez of El Monte, California.

Ricardo worked at Cooper Tire & Rubber Company as a tire builder and material handler until he retired in 2014. After retirement, he worked as a service porter at LaRiche Chevrolet-Cadillac, Findlay, shuttling customers while they waited for vehicle maintenance.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Findlay. He also belonged to Mount Blanchard Gun Club where he was well-liked. Ricardo enjoyed listening and dancing to Mexican music, gardening, repairing small engines, and cooking. His friends and family loved to eat his famous chili when the weather was cold. Ricardo was an avid Cleveland "Indians" fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandson, who brought him happiness. The two worked in the yard and shot guns together. He also enjoyed a cold beer after work. Ricardo spent his free time with loved ones, including his late wife, Cathy, who he loved and cherished.

Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, with a rosary service beginning at 7:45 p.m. Mass of Catholic burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2023, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church East, 750 Bright Road, Findlay. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Ricardo's name to Mount Blanchard Gun Club in care of Treasurer Jackie Schnapp, 20594 SR 68, Arlington, Ohio, 45814.
