Raymond Marvin Obituary

Raymond Leroy Marvin

Our precious and loving Raymond Leroy "Ray" Marvin, 86, of Findlay, went home to the Lord at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, surrounded by his family at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.

He was born May 30, 1937, in Findlay, to Richard E. Marvin and Sara Elizabeth Newhart. He was raised by his foster parents, Paul and Mildred Pore, along with his sister, JoAnn (Phil - survives) Rogers, who preceded him in death and his foster sister, Pauline (Gerald - deceased) Bishop, who survives.

Ray was a 1956 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School. He married Marlene Kay Diebley on Nov. 29, 1950, in in the middle of a snowstorm and she survives. Together, they had three children, Vicki (Craig) Broadwater (deceased), Sherri Castillo, and Debra (Daniel) Roberts, who survive. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Beth, Leticia, Wade, Adrian, Brittany, Vicki, Amanda, David, Carlie, Danny, and Gabriel (deceased); and 11 great-grandchildren, Hudson, Michael, Brayden, Maya, Liam, Maddox, Kiara, Skylar, Raelynn, Lukas, Teija, and the 12th is due in June!

Ray started working at Cooper Tire right out of high school as a tire builder and retired after 43 years of service. Later, he worked at Birchaven cleaning floors. During all this time, he and his wife were also custodians at West Independence Church, where they also attended. There, he and Marlene sang in the choir together for over 50 years. He also sang solos and duets with his wife. He drove bus for Arcadia sports and was a softball coach for his daughter's team.

He loved watching Cleveland Guardians, Cleveland Browns, and Ohio State, but his favorite pastime was playing golf with his Cooper Tire and church friends. He also loved vacationing with his family and spending quality time with his grandkids and great-grandkids playing cards. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay, and 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, until the time of Raymond's funeral at 11 a.m. at West Independence Church, 22876 US-224, Fostoria, Ohio, 44830.
