Ralph Nonnamaker Obituary
Ralph Allen Nonnamaker passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, at Good Samaritan Home, Arlington.
Ralph was born Feb. 15, 1943, to Howard and Alma (Slusser) Nonnamaker. His first wife, Gloria (Rettig) Nonnamaker, preceded him in death. He then married Jean (Montgomery) Nonnamaker on Feb. 20, 1966, and they were married for 57 years.
Ralph was a 1961 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School and then graduated from Toledo Meat Cutting School. He was a farmer and owned Ralph's Market in Bluffton before working and retiring from Wonder Bread. He retired again from A to Z Meats in Bluffton.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Jean Nonnamaker; four children, Monica (Dennis) VonStein of Rawson, Jill (Michael) Woodward of Bluffton, Gina (Kevin) Burkholder of McComb, and Cody (Stephanie) Nonnamaker of Jenera; 11 grandchildren, Miles (Melissa) VonStein, Brooke (Brandon) Anspach, Caleb (Carlie) VonStein, Morgan (Mitchell) Karhoff, Shelby (Jim) Armand, Chelsea (Cody) Basinger, Aubry (Dalton) Ream, Mariah (Addison) Diller, and Logan, Blake, and Makenzie Nonnamaker; and 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria; and brothers, Harold and Dean Nonnamaker.
Ralph enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in music, sports, and showing animals at the fair. For almost 35 years, he would collect money from the Bluffton businesses and help buy the Cory-Rawson 4-H and FFA member's animals at the livestock sale at the Hancock County Fair. He was a member of Riley Creek Baptist Church.
Ralph's services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, at Riley Creek Baptist Church, Bluffton. Pastor David Lanquist will officiate. Burial will be at Thompson Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton, and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Creek Baptist Church or Hancock County Fairgrounds.
