Preceding him in death are sisters, Chrissy Waisanen, Marie Iraninejad, and Mavis Launsby; and brother, Dan Waisanen.

Paul and Sue owned Maki Optical for many years and then continued their careers at Spectrum Eye Care. He worked at Kroger after his retirement. Paul was also an avid hunter and Michigan Wolverines fan.

He was a dedicated member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in McComb. Over the years, Paul helped to maintain the grounds, including mowing. He also helped put up the current steeple, as well as many other handy tasks.

A celebration of life will be at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at a later date.
