Nelson W. Conley

Nelson W. Conley, 84, of Forest, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, at his residence.

He was born March 28, 1939, in Wyandot Co., to Joseph A. and Myrtle B. (Willie) Conley.

He married Jane Krout on June 26, 1960, and she survives along with his sons, Jerry (Heather Nease) Conley of Defiance and Robert Conley of Findlay; daughters, Linda (Marty) Justice and Lora (Eric) Miller, both of Forest; grandchildren, Heather Lafferty, Sheena Conley, Cody Miller, Tessa Miller, Katie Conley, and Trey Justice; and five great-grandchildren.

Nelson was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Candice Lafferty; and brothers, Charles Conley, Donald Conley, and Joseph Conley.

Nelson graduated from Forest High School in 1957 and worked at Rockwell Industries, Kenton, for 44 years. For years, he helped transfer food and supplies from Lima to Forest for the Forest United Methodist Church Food Pantry. Nelson enjoyed farming, mowing the lawn, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, traveling on bus trips, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, NASCAR, and playing jokes on people. Even at the end, he was always joking.

Nelson's funeral will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at Clark Shields Funeral Home with the Rev. Rex Roth and the Rev. Ken Gray officiating. Interment will be at Jackson Center Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
