Neil Walter Obituary
Neil H. Walter, 80, died Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Buckeye Care and Rehabilitation, Lancaster, Ohio. He was born to Harold and Doris (Beck) Walter January 15, 1945, in rural Wharton, Ohio.
Neil was employed for over 30 years at Ohio Packing in Columbus.
Neil enjoyed hunting rabbits and pheasants, fishing, and water skiing. He was an AVID Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Sunday phone calls with his son Greg often centered around how those Buckeyes almost let him down.
Surviving are his sons, Jerry and Greg (Angela); grandsons, Evan, Bradley, and Gabriel; sisters, Patricia (David) Troyer and Connie (Kevin) Byers; and brothers, Kenneth (Donna), Franklin (Joyce), and Wesley (Sheila).
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Thanks to the caring staff at Buckeye Care and Rehab and Fairhope Hospice.
Visitation for Neil will be from 1-2 pm. Friday, August 1, 2025, at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, OH 43316. Funeral ceremony will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Kevin Byers officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Bloom Cemetery, 15110 Co Rd 197, Mt. Blanchard, OH 45867.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Neil's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
