Mildred Wuebbe Obituary

Mildred L. Wuebbe

Mildred Lucille Wuebbe, 102, of New Riegel, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria, where she resided for the past year.

Mildred was born April 15, 1921, in Seneca County, the youngest of three girls born to Edward and Clara (Hoffbauer) Wuebbe. She graduated from the former St. Nicholas School in 1936 after eight years of formal education.

Mildred was a familiar face to all of the students within New Riegel Schools. She was an employee of New Riegel School System, retiring in 1990 after 27 years of service in the cafeteria, being the manager for most of those years. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, weaving rugs, and tending to her plants and flowers. She had a passion for cats, especially her house cats.

Mildred was a life-long Catholic who attended St. Nicholas Church in Frenchtown where she was very active in many roles and spent countless hours contributing to its upkeep. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, Secular Franciscans, and Catholic Foresters. In addition to her activities within the Church, Mildred was also a part of New Riegel Women of the Moose and honorary member of New Riegel FFA.

Mildred is survived by nieces and nephews, Judy (Carl) Hucke, Edward (Gretchen Warren) Lafontaine, Elaine (Dennis) Wagner, Lois (Cory) Parollina, and Kenneth (Darlene) Lafontaine; niece-in-law, JoAnn LaFontaine; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Alice and Gladys Lafontaine; and nephew, Daniel.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Church, 39 N. Perry St., New Riegel, Ohio, 44853, with Fathers Conrad Sutter OFM CONV. and Ron Shock concelebrating. Visitation will be 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at St. Nicholas' Cemetery in Frenchtown. A luncheon will be at New Riegel American Legion following burial.

Donations in Mildred's honor may be made to Our Lady of Consolation School or New Riegel EMS and may be sent to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 West Findlay Street, Carey.
