Maxine Thompson Obituary

Maxine Thompson

Maxine Rose Thompson, 96, of Marietta, Georgia, died peacefully at 9 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee. Formerly of Forest, Ohio, she and her husband lived on their farm for 36 years before retiring to Bradenton, Florida, in 1984.

Maxine was born in Carey August 24, 1928, to the late Oscar Leroy "Jack" and Reva Blanche (Moser) Unland. She was a 1946 graduate of Harding High School in Marion and was married to Robert Edward Thompson on October 31, 1948. As an active member of Forest Methodist Church in Forest and Emanuel Methodist Church in Bradenton, Florida, she held many volunteer positions. She was an executive secretary at United Aircraft in Forest for 27 years and at Tropicana in Bradenton for six years. Maxine enjoyed bowling, golf, singing in the choir, and playing bridge and euchre.

Surviving family members are Betty Miller (sister-in-law) of Findlay; Reva Renee (Unland, niece) and John Adams of Marietta, Georgia, and their children, Molly (Tashiro) Williams, Andrew Tashiro, Dana (Ruth) and Will Adams along with 12 great-great-nieces and nephews; Melissa (Unland, niece) and Wayne Bean of Marietta, Georgia, and their children, Laura (Bean) Tenuto, Ashley (Bean) Hamilton, Chris Bean, Barry Bean and Grant Bean along with 15 great-great-nieces and nephews; James (nephew) and Deb Miller of Findlay and their children, Andrea Kocik and Kevin Miller along with two great-great-nieces and nephews; Marilyn (Miller, niece) and Richard Brown of Port Clinton and their children, Jamie Whipple, Jen Comer and Ryan Brown along with four4 great-great-nieces and nephews.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Thompson, of 44 years; her brother, Robert D. Unland; nephew, Jackie L. Unland; and great-great-nephew, Bradford Williams.

Maxine was known and loved for her style and grace, unwavering positive attitude in any circumstance, sincere kindness, generosity, humility, quick wit, and fun sense of humor. Her life lesson to us was "To be thankful for what you have and not wanting for what you don't."

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Hueston Cemetery. Pastor Cathy Davis will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay, Ohio. Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
