Mary Williams Obituary

Mary A. (Nesler) Williams

Mary A. (Nesler) Williams of Port Clinton passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, at Toledo Hospital, surrounded by her family.

She was born Oct. 21, 1942, in Findlay, the daughter of Edgar and Viola Nesler.

She married Jeff Williams on June 22, 1963, at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Arlington. In 1964, the newlyweds moved to Port Clinton to start their new journey and ended up having a wonderful life in this beautiful lakefront town.

Mary graduated from Arlington High School and attended Davis Business College before starting her career at Hancock Brick and Tile in Findlay. After moving to Port Clinton, she continued her working career at Ohio Radio, Inc., Cedar Point, Ottawa Common Pleas Court, and several law offices in Port Clinton.

Mary enjoyed raising her two daughters, but her pride and joy was watching her granddaughters, Breanna and Alexis, grow into beautiful young ladies. As grandmothers do, to spoiled them rotten and always put them first, even until her last days. She had the pleasure to taking them to Disney World. It was a highlight for the entire family and a memory that we all cherish.

Mary also loved traveling to see Christmas lights! She was quick to point out a well-lit home or a cute display. Some of her favorite trips included travels to Maine and Vermont to see the fall colors. Her favorite trip was her cruise to Great Britain and her time in Paris. She also enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Arizona, Las Vegas, visiting the Bad Lands, Mount Rushmore, the Mediterranean, and many other destinations throughout the United States and Europe.

Mary is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jeff; daughters, Christa (John) Turley of Northwood and Amy (Ed) Itano of Delaware, Ohio; granddaughters, Breanna Turley and Alexis Itano; niece, Pam (Steve) Freshour; nephew, Tim( Kay) Nesler; and nephew, Jim (Susan) Loveridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Viola Nesler; brother, Edgar Nesler Jr.; sister-in-law, Patricia Nesler; and in-laws, Janice and Harry Leichty and Cecil B. Williams.

The family would like to thank caregivers and friends Pam Schraidt and Katie Tisdale. Their care and love made it possible for Mary to spend her last months at home. Also, Dr. McLean and Dr. Flickenger for their care and compassion over many years for Mary. You all have shown great care not only for Mary, but also for the family.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton. Mary's funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Catawba Island Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions to St. John Lutheran Church in Port Clinton or Catawba Island Fire/EMS Department.

Our sincere condolences to Mary's family and friends. Such a kind and great person. We knew Mary, Jeff and the girls as neighbors on Catawba for over 50 years. So sorry to hear of her passing.
