Mary Edwards Obituary

Mary Edwards

Our sweet Mary lost her courageous battle with cancer Monday morning, September 30, at the age of 80.

Mary was a "war baby" born in Corpus Christie, Texas, to Charles D Huston, a pilot in the US Navy, and B Marie Weising Huston. Born into a career military family, she lived in eight states from birth to college. After graduating from Bowling Green State University with a BA, she moved to Michigan and started her career as an analyst for the US Department of Defense before retiring.

She loved to go on road trips with her sister, and eventually, her granddaughter joined in. She was interested in genealogy and created the family tree with well over 6500 relatives, going back to a 28th great-grandmother and grandfather. Mary also enjoyed geocaching, gardening, canning pickles and salsa, sewing, knitting, visiting holiday craft shows, and having the "flavor of the day" frozen custard at Culver's. Since moving to an acre in the country four years ago, she loved to sit on her back deck and watch the turkeys, sandhill cranes, deer, rabbits, grey foxes and other assorted wildlife that happened to wander through. Seeing the birds at her bird feeders always made her smile.

Mary loved her family and was incredibly proud of her granddaughter, Presleigh. She is survived by her son, Matthew Edwards and her granddaughter, Presleigh Edwards; brothers and sister, Charles Huston (Joetta), John Huston (Amy) and Sally Huston; her dog, Indi, was also a beloved family member.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edwards, and her parents.

Mary will be missed, and she is in a better place and free of pain. Love you always.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral or public service.
