Sheila Teresa Spencer, beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend, passed away on July 30, 2023, at the age of 63, in Southampton, Suffolk, NY. She was born on March 2, 1960, in Franklin County, GA, to Robert Ray and the late Mary Spencer. Sheila's passing has left a deep void in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
Sheila had an impressive career that took her through various industries before she found her true calling as an Au Pair for private families. Her nurturing nature and love for children made this role a perfect fit for her. Sheila dedicated herself to providing care and support to the young ones she looked after, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.
Education played an important role in Sheila's life. She attended Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, GA, and later continued her academic journey at Piedmont College in Demorest, GA. One very special talent that Sheila possessed was her incredible talent for singing. Her mesmerizing voice captivated audiences around the world. Whether it was in church or during her collegiate career, Sheila's voice never failed to inspire and uplift those who had the privilege of listening to her. Her voice was truly a gift that touched the souls of many.
Sheila's love for children extended beyond her professional life. She had a passion for coaching and mentoring young people in various sports activities. Her guidance and leadership instilled confidence and determination in those under her care. Sheila took great pride in seeing them grow not only as athletes but also as individuals.
On August 5, 2023, there will be a viewing held from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home located at 55 S Alexander Street in Toccoa, GA. On the same day at Friendship Baptist Church on 244 S Sage St in Toccoa, there will be another event to commemorate Sheila's life from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
A funeral service will be held on August 6, 2023, at Friendship Baptist Church at 2:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather once more at King Branch Baptist Church, located at 6343 Hwy 198 in Homer, GA, for the burial ceremony, which will take place at 4:00 PM on the same day.
Sheila's warm and caring personality touched many lives. She had an infectious smile that could light up any room and a heart full of love and compassion. Her presence was a source of comfort and support to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her loving father, Robert Ray Spencer; her children, Zachary Spencer, and Miah Spencer; her grandson, Zaire Spencer; her sisters, Denise (Barry) Freeman, Inger (James) Neal, Aprill Spencer, and Joy Spencer; and her brothers, Robert Spencer and Willie Spencer. She is survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; a very special friend, Mr. Jay Scruggs; and a very special family, Chris, Allison, Caroline, and Jack Putala. The loss of Sheila will be deeply felt by her family, who meant the world to her. May they find solace in the memories they shared with her and find strength in each other during this difficult time.
Sheila Teresa Spencer's dazzling voice may no longer fill our ears, but its echoes will forever resonate in our hearts. Her love for children and mentoring will continue to inspire generations to come. Sheila's legacy of compassion, kindness, and dedication will live on in the countless lives she touched.
In honor of Sheila's life, let us cherish the memories we have shared with her. May we find comfort in celebrating the beautiful soul she was as we gather to bid her farewell. Rest in peace, dear Sheila. Your spirit shall remain eternally vibrant within us.
