Mary Coon Obituary

Mary Jane Coon

Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, Mary Jane Coon passed away at Sunrise of Findlay after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She was 86 years old.

She was born May 15, 1938, in Marion to Dorothy and Bernard Coon. Mary Jane was a music teacher and gave private piano lessons. She finished her teaching career at Fostoria City Schools, and when she retired, she loved keeping up with her students through Facebook. She was a devoted member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, especially enjoying being in the church choir. She nurtured her love of travel by often joining other parishioners on trips. She traveled to all seven continents and all 50 states throughout her life. She was an avid quilter, winning many awards at quilt shows, and she loved to babysit, becoming a treasured part of her charges' families.

She is survived by her niece, Sheri Damron; her nephew, David Eschedor (Jennifer Feehan); and his children, Nichole Eschedor, Tiffany Rowland (Tyler), and Kimberly Eschedor (Mike Jones); and two great-great-nieces, Kinsley and Brooklyn Jones.

Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents; her only sister, Anita, and her nephew, William Damron, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 120 Sandusky St., Findlay. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. that morning at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew's.
