Mary Clark Obituary

Mary E. Clark

Mary E. Clark passed away January 20, 2026, at The Manor at Greendale in Findlay. She was born April 10, 1942, in a farmhouse in Alvada.

She participated in a recruitment program and was informed during her graduation ceremony from Centralia High School that she had been selected to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation after receiving a perfect score in typing and Gregg shorthand. Soon after, she boarded a train alone to Washington, D.C., and was greeted by Marines who escorted her to a women's boarding house. During this time, J. Edgar Hoover asked to meet her due to her consistency, as she had typed the "Untied" States of America throughout a 26-page report. He informed her that without knowing the future, he could not tell her that she was incorrect. She was a recorder in Rachel Carson's deposition regarding her Silent Spring publication.

She also worked for the city of Washington, D.C. when President Kennedy was assassinated. She had met Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and witnessed firsthand the riots after his assassination.

She retired from the First Ohio Credit Union in Fostoria to spend more time with her granddaughters. She especially enjoyed their tradition of Friday night "doctored-up" frozen Red Baron pizzas and penny poker. She also enjoyed reading mysteries, watching game shows, and doing crossword puzzles in pen, as she "could not" write with a pencil.

She married the love of her life, Russell "Bud" Clark, January 14, 1983, and together they created a beautiful home, where they raised Great Danes, took in stray cats, and held some of the greatest Halloween parties in their blue barn. He preceded her in death January 12, 2021.

Also preceding her in death are her parents, Ruth Inez Welty and Earl Charles Omlor; brother, Earl C. Omlor, Jr.; and many beloved pets, including her adopted pup Mitzy and Nutty, the fat orange stray cat, who kept bringing the same decomposing mouse to their back door until they finally took him in.

She is greatly missed by her son, Jeffrey (Dan Baker) Kast of Michigan; daughter, Audra (Ron) Oglesbee of McComb; grandchildren, Ellie (Michael) Davis of Findlay, Allison (Brandon) Spradling of Middletown, and Zachary Walker of Washington; great-grandchildren Jayce and Sawyer; and her favorite visitor, John Oglesbee.

The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at The Manor at Greendale, especially Mary's devoted care team in the Memory Care Unit, as well as Bridge Hospice. You made her feel safe and at home, and your kindness, friendship, and support for our family went above and beyond!

All services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Online condolences may be expressed at www.coldrencrates.com.
