Mary Ann Streacker
Mary Ann Streacker, 81, of Fremont, left her earthly home to travel to her heavenly home Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022. She is now happily rejoined with those who left before her, including her loving husband, Edward R. Streacker.
Born Mary Ann Koller on Sept. 24, 1941, Mary Ann left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She grew up in Tiffin and was the eldest of three daughters born to Nicholas and Ardinell Koller. She had fond memories of Koller's Department Store, growing up on Washington Street and attending Tiffin Calvert Schools where she made many friends and lasting memories. Mary Ann was a member of Calvert Marching Band, proudly playing the drums for her alma mater. Mary Ann would tell her children and grandchildren about the many fun times she had while growing up in Tiffin and going to school at Calvert. Mary Ann continued her education at Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo, became a registered nurse, and worked at Tiffin Mercy Hospital.
While in high school, she met Ed Streacker. They became engaged and were married Jan. 26, 1963. They lived in a small house on Nelson Street and started building a life and business together, along with their three sons, Jeff, Greg, and Brian. In 1972, Ed, Mary Ann, and the boys moved to Fremont and ran the Fremont division of Streacker Tractor Sales.
Mary Ann was a true "boy mom." Having had three sons, she was very involved in all their sporting events, even managing to secure a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for one son's football team for loudly disagreeing with a referee's call during a game.
She and the first love of her life, Ed, started building the family cottage, the second love of her life, in McGregor Bay, Ontario, Canada, in 1965. For more than 50 years, they traveled to the cottage twice a summer and even took a boat trip up twice from Port Clinton all the way to McGregor Bay. While living in the bay, Mary Ann was enchanted by the wildlife there, especially the Common Loon, which is where her nickname "Imaloon" originated. She was lovingly referred to by this nickname for many years by both her children and grandchildren and many in the local community. You may have seen her driving around town with the license plate "IMALOON." She and Ed spent many happy hours fishing, socializing, and enjoying the scenery of the bay along with their children and grandchildren.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. Streacker; parents, Nicholas and Ardenell Koller; many aunts and uncles; and granddaughter, Chesna Streacker.
She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey (Deb), Greg (Jennifer) and Brian (Bridgett) Streacker, all of Fremont; numerous grandchildren, including Natasha (Andrew Irons), Jake, Mallory, Alison, Nicholas, Chase, Haleigh (Isaac Lewis), Lucas, Logan, and Hadley Streacker; great-grandchildren, Alessandra, Peyton, Charlie, and Hudson; and sisters, Jane (David) Dow and Peg Wenner.
Mary Ann's presence will always be felt while sharing funny family stories of her antics. She has left an indelible mark on all our lives and her absence leaves us missing her. We know we will see her again someday, happily fishing along Ed's side in the bays up in Heaven.
Mary Ann's family would like to thank the staff of Elmwood Communities for their loving care of our mother.
